Standing Stones Collection
I am constantly working on interesting geometrical patterns and I particularly like designs which have a curve to them as opposed to being totally linear and angular. I always think of geometric designs as singularly masculine, perhaps it is the regimented order and lack of whimsy, but they have an understated chic about them that just quietly underlines everything else in a room.
There are more than 50,000 neolithic standing stones in Western Europe which range from menhirs to monoliths to dolmen to megaliths to famous stone circles such as Avebury and Stonehenge. The ancients with their natural reading of nature and shamanistic outlook had the same desire to aesthetically embellish their habitat as we do today. At this moment, I believe we have a lot to gain from the power of simplicity.
As we emerge from under the shadow of Covid my mind and eye has turned to simpler times when shape and form had a powerful significance through their simplicity and scale. I feel a need for simple organic form that can bring calm to the chaos.
