From the Standing Stones Collection
Castlerigg Stone Circle is situated on a prominent hill to the east of Keswick, Cumbria in the Lake District. It dates to about 3200BC (Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age). It would seem that the alignment of the site focusses on the sunrise during the Autumn Equinox – this was a site to celebrate the Mid Winter sunrise.
Local folklore has it that you can never count how many stones there are because the numbers are ever changing and no two people ever reach the same number.
Shipping and installation are charged at additional custom rates.
